At least two people were shot dead in mysterious circumstances in Kibera on Monday.

Kilimani police boss Muturi Mbogo had however said no fatalities were reported during the Monday chaos.

One of the victims was shot dead in Kibera Lindi at around 7pm, according to his brother Harmaton Magero.

Magero told police that while at home, he received a call from his brother’s neighbour that he had been shot by an unknown person.

The body was found lying near Kisembo Health Centre. The deceased had been shot on the back and the bullet exited on the chest.

“The family made arrangements and transferred the body to the mortuary before informing the police. Detectives, however, later visited the scene and the mortuary and launched investigations,” police said.

Police said another middle-aged man was also killed within Kibera’s Lindi area by unknown gunmen. He was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital but succumbed to the injuries the following day, Tuesday.

Fataz Abdulla said his younger brother was at home when he was he was shot.

“He was shot on the right thigh and died while being treated,” police said.

On Monday, a section of a mosque in Kibra was burnt down amid claims of sponsored thuggery.

Another group, in an apparent retaliation, raided the PCEA church in the area and set it on fire. As a result, several other stalls near the mosque and church were also razed down.

Police in Kisumu on Monday shot dead one anti government  protester in Kondele. The deceased was shot in the leg and the chest — the slugs leaving from the back. He is yet to be identified.

 Dr George Rae, the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Reference Emergency clinic CEO, said the body was taken to the  facility morgue at around 1pm.

“One individual was brought dead, a youthful, obscure male in his mid 20s. The police moved  him and left him in the mortuary.”
