DCI launches investigations into Ruai land ownership dispute
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has commenced investigations into a land ownership dispute in Ruai after a complainant accused an unidentified individual of constructing on her parcel of land.
In a statement by the DCI on Monday, May 4, 2026, the detectives explained that the complainant initially reported the matter at DCI Ruai on April 24, 2026.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has commenced investigations into a land ownership dispute in Ruai, Nairobi. The complainant initially reported the matter at DCI Ruai on April 24, 2026, stating that an unidentified individual had commenced construction on her parcel of land,” DCI stated.
In a quest to identify the rightful ownership of the piece of land, the detectives visited the scene on April 28, 2026, and advised the complainant to record a formal statement and present supporting documentation.
According to detectives, the complainant presented herself at the station; however left without completing the process at that time. A move that later resulted in a video that went viral on social media platforms, alleging that her piece of land had been unlawfully taken.
DCI report on the Investigations
Meanwhile, the detectives have confirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing, and the individual linked to the construction has been summoned and recorded a statement.

In the explanation, the DCI revealed that the accused presented documentation, including a lease certificate, and indicated that he purchased the property in 2017 through a formal transaction facilitated a ranching Company.

At the same time, the detectives reveal that the complainant has also presented herself at DCI Ruai and recorded her statement, alongside submitting supporting documents, including a share certificate from the ranching Company.
On the other hand, DCI has stated that an inquiry file has been opened to establish the rightful ownership of the piece of land, and investigations are ongoing, with both parties assured of a fair, impartial, and thorough investigation.
“The DCI urges members of the public to allow investigations to proceed and to refrain from drawing conclusions based on unverified online content,” DCI added.
