DCI detectives raid houses in Athi River and recover bales of bhang

According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the four individuals were waylaid and apprehended during coordinated raids conducted by officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU).
“Four persons of interest have been arrested in Athi River following a targeted anti-narcotics operation that led to the recovery of multiple packages and bales of dry cannabis,” DCI said in a statement.

According to the DCI, the operation was carried out following officers’ action on credible intelligence.

The officers raided two mabati houses in the Kisumu Ndogo area and a rented residential house at Ngimo Apartment, where the narcotics were recovered.

The four were escorted to Muthaiga Police Station, where they are undergoing processing ahead of their arraignment in court.
