DCI deny abduction of Wajir ward Rep
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has told the court that the Della Ward MCA in Wajir County who was abducted two weeks ago is not in the hands of police.
Justus Imana a senior superintendent of police and the deputy DCI in Nairobi Region appeared before the High Court judge Justice Alexander Muteti who had on Thursday last week issued orders of habeas corpus against the Della Ward Member of County Assembly Yussuf Hussein Ahmed.
Yussuf was abducted on September 13, by unknown people at Enterprise Road roundabout while on board of a taxi towards Pangani in Nairobi county.
Imana appeared before the Milimani High Court to explain what he knows regarding the abduction where the family lawyers led by Danstan Omari, Sam Nyamberi and Shadrack Wambui were accusing police officers being the culprits.
Following the accusations, the court released an order for the said MCA body to be brought before the same court on Friday last week or for the Inspector General of police through his representatives come to explain what they know about his whereabouts.
Imana told Justice Muteti that he came aware of the abduction on the same day after the report was made by the taxi driver,
“My Lord I came aware of the incident on the same day after the report was made at the Industrial Area Police Station,” Imana said.
He added that immediately after the report was made, Investigations commenced and is yet to be concluded.
He confirmed to the court that the MCA is no longer in their custody or police cells and they are on their toes pursuing the incident to know his whereabouts.
“Your honour I confirm before this court that the subject in this matter is no longer in our police cells and we are working hard pursuing the incident and looking for him,” he confirmed.
