DCI clears reports of Sahara Bare’s release
By Cynthia Lodite, April 27, 2026The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has addressed a fake post circulating online claiming the release of Sahara Bare.
In a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation on its official X account on Monday, April, 27,2026, the DCI dismissed reports of Sahara Bare’s release from custody.
According to the DCI, the person of interest remains in custody and has not been released on bail, contrary to posts from Yussuf Ahmed Ali suggesting that their daughter had been released.
Additionally, the detectives have confirmed that the person of interest has been processed and is set to appear before the Kahawa Law Court on April 27.
“The suspect was arrested and was not released on bond. She was processed and is appearing before the Kahawa Law Courts this morning,” DCI stated.

The arrest
In a statement on Sunday, April, 26,2026, the DCI said Bare Sahara Ahmed was taken into custody after investigators reviewed the video circulating on social media and launched inquiries to establish the context and intent of the statements.
According to the detectives, the arrest followed a swift and thorough review of the video alongside ongoing investigations to establish the context of the statements made.
The agency cautioned that while freedom of expression is protected under the Constitution, it must be exercised responsibly and within the law.
At the time, the DCI warned that statements that may incite division, hatred or threaten peaceful coexistence will be dealt with firmly, and urged the public to remain calm and avoid sharing inflammatory content.
In addition, the DCI reminded the public that, despite the freedom of expression enshrined in the Kenyan Constitution, this right is exercised within the confines of the law.
