DAP-K politicians denounce Mudavadi alliance with Ruto
Some politicians from Western Kenya drawn from the recently-launched Democratic Alliance Party of Kenya (DAP-K) yesterday denounced the decision by Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi to join forces with Deputy President William Ruto ahead of the 2022 general elections.
Speaking in Nairobi yesterday, they said the move does not represent the Mulembe nation aspirations noting that Mudavadi has joined the “dark forces” alone.
Led by Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and former National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende, the politicians claimed Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula had auctioned the community for 30 pieces of silver.
“They no longer speak for us. They are no longer our leaders because they have failed the test of leadership,” Wamalwa told journalists at Chui House, the headquarters of DAP-K.
Not serious He went on: “Yesterday was a sad day for Kenya watching what happened at Bomas of Kenya. It was a sad day for the Luhya Nation and the household members because lot of aspirations and expectations had been put on our first-born Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi.”
“We thought he was serious about his presidential bid. But alas! what happened yesterday showed us that Mudavadi is not serious about his presidential bid.”
Wamalwa said he had been forced to cut links with Mudavadi following his decision to enter into an alliance with Ruto. Marende said he been betrayed by Mudavadi following his arbitrary decision to join forces with UDA.
“I personally feel betrayed and as a result of the step that my brother took yesterday, which I’ll describe as a false step, and as a matter of fact to me, it is so reckless that I think my brother Mudavadi just acted in a manner typical of a suicide bomber hit through a bomb but did not realise that the bomb was wired on him,” said Marende.
He went on: “So my brother Mudavadi has blown himself up. We shall leave him in the past, because indeed, we must take this country forward.”
According to Marende, Mudavadi had gone to bed with their bad company. “And for me, my DNA does not agree with that company. We are not compatible,” he said.
He revealed that he had joined DAP-K on whose ticket he will contest the Vihiga governorship against the incumbent Wilbur Otichillo among others.
