CS Tuya showers Duale with praise during military dining-in-dining-out ceremony

Defence Cabinet Secretary (CS) Soipan Tuya has showered her predecessor Aden Duale with praises after enjoying a military dining-in-dining-out party on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
The ceremony took place at the Defence headquarters in Nairobi where recently retired and promoted officers in the military also attended.
While praising Duale, now in charge of the Ministry of Environment, Soipan also acknowledged the efforts of the retired generals and senior officers in their dedication to serving in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
“Today we celebrate Hon. Duale who has left an indelible footprint as a great champion of the expansion and modernisation efforts of the Ministry.
“He has remained steadfast in ensuring that our gallant men and women in the military are well equipped and are enabled to effectively discharge their constitutional mandate of defending and protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kenya,” Tuya said.
As quoted by the KDF website, CS Tuya wished the retired general and senior officers well, as they embarked on new roles and encouraged them to continue building the nation using their skills and expertise acquired during service.
CS Duale thanked KDF and Ministry of Defence leadership for the support accorded to him during his tenure, acknowledging the milestones undertaken in the modernisation of the Kenya Defence Forces welfare services including healthcare and affordable housing.
The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri was also present at the ceremony and welcomed CS Tuya into the KDF and Ministry of Defence fraternity and assured her of his continuous support as she steers the Ministry ahead.
“Gen. Kahariri further appreciated Hon. Duale’s guidance and leadership in maintaining cohesion in the KDF fraternity and wished him the best as he transitions to serve in a different ministry.
“The CDF appreciated the retired General and Senior Officers for their exemplary and dedicated service throughout their illustrious military careers and wished them well as they continue to serve the nation in their different capacities,” the statement from DoD’s website added.
Others feted
The dine-in and dine-out ceremony is an essential occasion to bid farewell to the outgoing officers and welcome the newly promoted and appointed officers to various military messes, the statement clarified.
Former Vice Chief of the Defence Forces (VCDF) Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi, former Army Commander, Lieutenant General Peter Njiru, former Director General Nairobi Metropolitan Services, Lieutenant General Mohamed Badi and former Managing Director Kenya Ordinance Factory, Major General Martin On’goyi, were also honoured.
Brigadier Njoroge Gitogo, Brigadier Gilbert Oduor, Brigadier Maurice Mwangi, Brigadier Maroa Gati, Brigadier Ibrahim Omari, Brigadier Jeremiah Maroko and Brigadier David Frank Ogutu are the others who were celebrated and honoured.
Principal Secretary for Defence, Patrick Mariru, Vice Chief of Defence Forces (VCDF) Lt. Gen John Omenda, service commanders, general officers, senior officers and officers attended the ceremony in Hurlingham.
