CS Ogamba joins Kisii MPs on condolence visit to Senator Onyonka after his mother’s death

Education Cabinet Secretary Migosi Ogamba has accompanied a section of Kisii leaders to pay a condolence visit to Senator Richard Onyonka on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, following the demise of his mother a few days ago.

Notable leaders who were present included nominated Senator Essie Okenyuri; Kitutu Chache South MP Antony Kibagendi; his Kitutu Chache North counterpart Nyakundi; Woman Representative Doris Donya; Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama; former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga; Kisii senatorial aspirant Omingo Magara; South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro; and many others who were present to eulogise the outspoken senator.

According to Silvanus Osoro, who was presiding over the occasion, despite being on opposite sides of the political divide, Onyonka is a unifying factor who values everyone and is always ready to listen to advice, even from his political adversaries.

Onyonka’s mother’s death

Onyonka‘s mother, Mama Teresia Nyaboke Omoke, passed away while receiving treatment at Aga Khan Hospital, a hospital in Nairobi.

In a statement on his official Facebook account on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Onyonka confirmed that Mama Teresia passed away aged 81.

“I regret to announce the passing on of my beloved mother, Mama Teresia Nyaboke Omoke, who departed this life today at the age of 81 years while receiving treatment at Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi,” Onyonka said.

While eulogising her mother, Senator Onyonka described her as a devoted mother, a pillar of strength to our family, and a woman of great faith, humility, and wisdom.

At the same time, Onyonka explained that Mama Teresia lived a full life grounded in service, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

“Mama Teresia Nyaboke Omoke was born on 25th December 1944. She was a devoted mother, a pillar of strength to our family, and a woman of great faith, humility, and wisdom. She lived a full life grounded in service, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and community,” Onyonka added.

Similarly, the legislator said that her passing is a profound loss not only to our family but also to all those whose lives she touched through her kindness, guidance, and enduring love.

Further adding that she was the heart of their home, and her legacy will continue to inspire the family in the days ahead.
