CS Mucheru calls for digitisation of local languages to avoid extinction

By , September 27, 2021

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has called on Kenyan youth to develop Artificial Intelligence that can digitise local indigenous languages so that they do not become extinct in a rapidly digitized world.

Speaking while attending 11th International Research Conference for the School of Business and Economics 2021 at Kabarak University, Mucheru also urged the youth to be peace ambassadors noting they have a chance to transform the country with the right mind set.

The CS called upon the youth to exploit digitization as a force to do good as it can be used for nefarious activities such as spreading hate speech and committing cyber-crimes.

The CS delivered a keynote address during the conference, touching on the opportunities available to youth within Kenya’s robust digital economy.

The event was attended by Senator Gideon Moi who is also the Chancellor of Kabarak University.
