CS Miano says IShowSpeed tour is reshaping Kenya’s global tourism image
Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has said the visit by popular American YouTube influencer IShowSpeed is helping reposition Kenya’s tourism brand on the global stage, shifting it from a traditional safari destination to a vibrant, modern cultural hub.
In a statement posted on her X account on Sunday, January 11, 2026, Miano said the influencer’s Africa tour had turned Kenya’s story into a real-time experience for millions of viewers worldwide.
“Magical Kenya shines as IShowSpeed tours Africa, turning our story into a real-time experience. He is reshaping Kenya’s image from safari hub to a melting pot of cultures, vibrant cities, great cuisine, amazing people and adventure. Indeed, we are the Origin of Wonder,” she wrote.

Platform for untold African stories
Miano noted that the visit offered a rare opportunity for Kenya and the wider African continent to tell its own story beyond stereotypes, using digital platforms that reach young and global audiences.
Speaking during the influencer’s activities in the country, the CS described IShowSpeed as one of the most powerful voices in online media today.
“Today we are hosting IShowSpeed, one of the greatest influencers on YouTube and in social media,” Miano said.
According to Miano, the strong public turnout during the tour underscored Kenyans’ enthusiasm and hospitality, while also amplifying Africa’s narrative to the world.
“We are very grateful to see that Kenyans have come out in their numbers, but this opportunity gives Africa a platform to showcase stories that are never told — the beauty of Africa, the people, the culture and hospitality,” she said.
Miano revealed that the day’s activities were deliberately shaped by Kenyans themselves, allowing the influencer to experience the country authentically.
“We’ve had a very, very successful day with IShowSpeed, and we let Kenyans determine his schedule, and we are very happy to show that this is truly Magical Kenya, Origin of Wonder,” she said.
