COVID-19 update: Kenya records 162 new cases

162 out of 990 sampled people in the last 24 hours have tested positive for COVID-19, Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakumicha has confirmed.

In a statement, the ministry of health noted that out of the 162 positive cases, 82 were males while 80 were females.

The cases were recorded from Nairobi (110), Nakuru (13), Kiambu (11), Kilifi (7), Lamu (7), Kericho (5), Bomet (2), Murang’a (2), Siaya (2), Kakamega (1), Busia (1) and Kisumu (1).

“The youngest is aged 1 year while the oldest is 84. Distribution of positive cases by age is as follows; 0-9 years (3), 10-19 years (17), 20-29 years(31), 30-39(43), 40-49(27), 50-59(24),60 years and above (17),” the statement reads in parts.

The latest statistics bring the total number of laboratory-confirmed positive cases to 340,371, and the cumulative tests to 3,929,608

Currently, 16 patients have been admitted in health facilities while 1,005 are receiving home-based isolation and care programs. `

The ministry of health further announced that the total number of vaccines administered stood at 22,6892,712 as of November 11, 2022.

“The total number of people fully vaccinated over the last 24 hours stands at 5,362. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 36.4 per cent. The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033,” the statement added.
