Court suspends IEBC’s Ksh1.5 million fine against Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia
By Zipporah Ngwatu, July 13, 2026A Milimani High Court has temporarily halted the decision by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to fine Kipipiri Member of Parliament (MP) Wanjiku Muhia Ksh1.5 million for what the election body termed as breaching the Electoral Code of Conduct.
Justice Nabil Mokaya Orina on Monday, July 13, 2026, issued the interim orders, noting that the order will be in force pending the hearing and determination of a petition filed by MP Wanjiku challenging the IEBC move.
The Judge has blocked the code of conduct enforcement committee, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission of Kenya, listed as the second respondent, from enforcing the decision.
“In the meantime, pending the hearing and determination of the application, an order be and is hereby issued staying the judgment of the 2nd respondent issued on July 10, 2026,” Judge Mokaya ordered.
The matter shall be mentioned on July 20, 2026, for further directions.
