By , March 5, 2024

A High Court has halted the impending demolition of a multi-million shillings storey building in Eldoret town until a case challenging it is heard and determined.

Altaf Bhati, the owner of the prime property obtained the orders after filing a petition seeking to stop the demolition that was set to be carried out by the county government of Uasin Gishu.

Lands Court Judge Elijah Obaga ordered that the planned demolition of the building which hosts Fims limited among other shops stops until the petition before him is heard and determined.

Bhati had moved to court to save his property from being flattened by a bulldozer by the county through the Eldoret municipal board on the grounds that it was constructed on a drainage line.
