Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko will know his fate on Wednesday, July, 13 in a case he lodged seeking to be cleared to run for the Mombasa governor seat.

The new development comes after the Mombasa Law Courts registrar, in a notice issued to the parties in the petition, indicated that the matter had been rescheduled for judgment tomorrow.

“Take notice the above matter which was slated for judgment on July 15 has been rescheduled to Wednesday, July 13 in the open court,” reads part of the notice.

This is after a three-judge bench hearing the matter said it was set to issue its judgment.

In the case, Sonko is seeking orders to compel the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ( IEBC) and the Wiper Party not to appoint a candidate to replace him in the Mombasa gubernatorial race.

The bench comprising of Mombasa resident judge Olga Sewe, Stephen Githinji , and Anne Onginjo retreated on Wednesday, July 6 following the filing and hearing of submissions by parties in the matter.
