Court rejects suspect’s plea in Maigo case
Anne Adhiambo Ouma alias Nut, a woman accused of killing Nairobi Hospital Finance Officer Eric Maigo has pleaded guilty.
Ouma appeared before High Court Judge Kanyi Kimondo and pleaded guilty to the offence.
This is after the court clerk read the alleged offence to her three times in Kiswahili.
The judge, however, warned the accused against the consequences of pleading guilty.
He asked the accused if she understood the allegations levelled against her, to which she responded in the affirmative.
“In the interest of justice, I have given her time to consult with her advocates before pleading again,” the judge ruled.
Ouma is represented by lawyer Samuel Ayora. The judge directed the girl to be remanded at Langata Women Prison until November 8, 2023 when she will be taken to another judge at Kibera Law Courts to plead afresh to the murder charge.
The minor has been in police custody for almost a month as police sought to investigate her in connection with Maigo’s murder.
The accused was arrested on September 26, at the Olympic area within Kibera, Nairobi county.
