A Nairobi court has allowed detectives 21 days to detain a GSU officer linked to the murder of a woman in Langata as they complete their investigations.

Victor Otieno Ouma was detained by Senior Principal Magistrate Irene Kahuya after Constable Johnson Wanjohi of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Langata filed an affidavit in court.

Wanjohi in his affidavit told the court that some exhibits including used condoms were recovered and he told the court that the deceased, Nelvine Museti must have been in the company of a man.

“Some lead investigations show that the deceased was in the company of a man in her house where they must have spent the night together, they must have enjoyed their time together and the condom that we found as an exhibit shows, some drinks were used too,” Wanjohi told the court.

Containing alcohol

He told the court that an empty beer bottle, some glasses containing alcohol, bhang, and a half-full -two–litre bottle containing a beverage were also received and have been taken for forensic analysis.

“I want to inform the court that some of the items recovered have been forwarded to the Government Chemist for Toxicology and DNA analysis,” he said.

“I urge the honourable court to give us 21 more days to detain the suspect so that we conclude our investigations which includes recording of witness statements among others,” he told the court.

While responding to the application, Ouma told the court that he had no objection hence allowing the detectives to detain him

The court directed that the suspect be detained at Langata police station for 21 days. The matter will be mentioned on February 8 for a further directions.
