A police officer accused of defiling a 16-year-old girl on New Year’s Day was yesterday arraigned to answer to the charges.

Sergeant Stanley Kisang, 32, attached to Ratta Police post in Seme sub-county appeared before Maseno Law  Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Oruo however failed to take plea after  investigating officer Franko Kazungu requested for more time to carry out investigations.

Kazungu asked the court to let the suspect be remanded at Maseno Police Station to enable him complete the probe. 

“I am requesting this court for more time to enable me complete investigations,” said Kazungu.

The magistrate granted his prayers and directed that the matter comes up for mentioning on January 8 before a hearing date can be fixed. 

The officer is alleged to have defiled the minor, a Form One student after she was locked up at the police station for reportedly attending a night dance in the neighbourhood.

While at the police post, the girl claimed that the suspect had picked her up from the cells and took her to his house situated within the locality where he defiled her severally before escorting her back to the cells.
