Concern over influx of children living with disabilities in Kiambu

Activists have raised concern over the influx of abandoned disabled children in Juja, Kiambu County reported to have been smuggled from neighboring countries.

The physically challenged children, upon arrival in the country are reported to be dumped along streets where they are forced to work as beggars.

According to Dr Marion Karimi, who runs a rescue and rehabilitation centre for the differently abled children in Juja, the number of physically challenged children from neighbouring countries are on the rise and urgent intervention is required to rehabilitate them to pursue education.

Karimi is currently rehabilitating 177 disabled children.
