City lawyer Evans Monari is dead, family confirms

Lawyer Evans Monari who was part of President Kenyatta’s legal team at the ICC has passed away at Nairobi Hospital following a long illness, family says

According to family spokesman Ken Monari, the lawyer died last night at the ICU of Nairobi Hospital, with the nature of his illness yet to be established.

Until his demise, Monari was an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Partner in Coulson Harney, Advocates, where he was the Head of Dispute Resolution and Arbitration.

Monari also handled a myriad of commercial, civil, judicial review and constitutional briefs as well as high-profile cases.

During the 2007-2008 post-election violence, Monari represented former Police Commissioner, Hussein Ali.

Ali faced crimes against humanity charges in the Hague-based International Criminal Court ICC.
