Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has dropped a criminal charge against a man suspected of opening a Facebook page in the name and image of Eliud Owalo, the ICT  Cabinet Secretary.

When the case came up for mention before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi yesterday, senior state prosecutor James Gachoka told  the court that the prosecution wished to withdraw the case since the complainant is not interested in the matter.

However, the magistrate allowed the application by the prosecution and discharged the suspect namely Calvince Otieno Odhiambo who has been in custody at Kilimani police station since Monday.

Upon his arrest on January 5 in Rongo, Odhiambo was reportedly in possession of six mobile phones, plus several Safaricom and Airtel sim cards.

The court heard the Facebook account was active between December 6, 2022 and January 5, 2023 when the suspect was arrested.
