Calls grow for Nyandarua Woman Rep to run for governor

Calls for the Nyandarua Woman Representative, Faith Gitau, to seek gubernatorial position in 2027 are gaining momentum.

The calls dominated a National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) bursary issuance gathering in Ol Kalou last week.

The Woman Rep acknowledged that, “I have heard your prayers and I know God has heard also. I will give direction when that time comes.”

She said elective seats are there to be contested for because “no seat is a preserve of anybody”.

During the bursary giving out gathering, David Kamunya who is of the supporters of the Woman Rep paraded a large group made of people who are the ‘ears’ in the ground in various parts of the County.

“We have listened to the ground and people are speaking with one voice. We have had two male governors (Daniel) Waithaka and (Francis) Kimemia and time is ripe for Nyandarua to have a woman governor,” Kamunya said.

Gitau was among the front-runners for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) gubernatorial nomination candidates in the run-up to the 2022 General Election but the party settled for the current Nyandarua governor Moses Kiarie Badilisha.

The Nyandarua NGAAF board chairman, Father David Munyeki said people across the County want the Woman Rep to go for the top seat.

“The voice of people is the voice of God,” the Priest said.

Gitau called on Governor Badilisha to ensure hospitals have drugs and County roads are properly graded.
The two-time Woman Rep urged judges to be having human hearts when matters affecting millions of people, like the affordable housing project and the

Social Health Insurance Fund are brought in the courts.
She appealed to the government to increase NGAAF funds kitty saying what each woman representative gets is not enough to meet the huge demands.
