Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has called on the national government to urgently address the security concerns raised by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, warning that dismissing such claims could lead to national instability.

Speaking during a podcast on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Amisi cautioned that Gachagua’s fears should not be taken lightly, especially coming from a leader of his stature.

Amisi emphasised that every Kenyan, regardless of their status, deserves to be heard when they raise an alarm over their safety.

“If a person says they fear for their life, you don’t ignore them. What if something happens? People will say we should have helped. Every person, including Gachagua, deserves to be listened to,” Amisi stated.

He further pointed out the seriousness of the claims made by Gachagua, including allegations that he is being targeted with a biological weapon.

According to Amisi, it is the government’s duty to investigate such claims thoroughly.

“If Gachagua has made allegations of that magnitude, it is the government’s responsibility to either confirm or deny them with evidence. If not, summon him and get to the root of the matter. But don’t just dismiss him,” Amisi added.

The Saboti legislator warned that ignoring the former deputy president could have dire consequences.

He questioned how the public, especially Gachagua’s supporters, would react if anything were to happen to him.

“What if he dies, even from a natural cause like cancer? His supporters will still believe his life was in danger and blame the government.

He’s not just any other Kenyan—he has a strong political base,” he noted.

Amisi concluded by urging the government to take the matter seriously, conduct investigations, and provide Gachagua with necessary security assurances.

“It’s imperative that the government address Gachagua’s concerns. Provide a report and assure him of safety, but don’t ignore him. If anything happens, it could destabilise the country,” he warned.

Gachagua’s security concerns

This comes at a time when Gachagua has raised concerns over his security. On May 18, 2025, he claimed that an elite security team, trained by the National Intelligence Service (NIS), was sent to his residences in Karen and Wamunyoro with instructions to poison him using biological weapons.

He further stated that the plan involved chemicals that would be inhaled, leading to his death within three months by paralysing his brain.

Several top government officials, led by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, have come out dismissing him, saying that he should be ignored and not taken seriously.
