A businesswoman was on Friday charged before a Nairobi court with assaulting her ex-boyfriend over a temporary child custodial order and causing body harm.

Mildred Aoko Okello appeared before Milimani Resident Magistrate Michael Ndungi and denied a charge of assault and causing harm to  Anveninen Antti Jossi.

Prosecution alleges that Aoko assaulted Jossi thereby occasioning actual body harm on January 7 outside Milimani Law Courts in Upper Hill Area, Nairobi.

It is said that Jossi had gone to Milimani Law Courts where he had a mention over a matter involving Okello, the mother of his child.

The complainant, Jossi is said to have obtained a temporary custodial order from the court but as they were leaving the court, Okello refused to hand over the child to the father.

Allegedly, Okello punched Jossi on his face while holding their child whom he had the temporary custodial order from court.

He sustained injuries on his head, face and neck at the end of the struggle and later headed to MP Shah hospital for treatment.

Okello managed to retain the child even after having a long talk with the father of the child.

The cause of the tussle is alleged to be an unhappy mother because Jossi was winning the court case as he had already been granted temporary custodial rights to child.

Arraigned before a Milimani Court, Okello denied the charges preferred against her and through her lawyer sought for lenient cash bail and bond terms.

Ndungi released the accused on a Sh30,000 cash bail with an alternative of a Sh60,000 bond with a similar surety.

The case will be mentioned on February 14.
