Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has disclosed that the county government is set to employ 115 qualified ECDE teachers this 2023–2024 Financial Year.

Speaking in Kaptama Ward, Mt Elgon sub-county, Tuesday during the launch of ECDE classrooms, Lusaka said: “ECDE and Vocational Training centres are our main mandate. We are going to employ more teachers to meet the required education standards.”

He reiterated the county government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education and also sustaining learners in school. “We must derive alternative ways of maintaining our children in class,” he stressed, adding that a school feeding programme was underway in the region.

His administration, he added, was intent on constructing more classrooms as well as undertaking a water project in Mt Elgon to solve the commodity’s shortage.

“We have a mega water project that will soon be operational. It will serve this region and beyond,” he said.
