Murang’a gubernatorial aspirant Jamleck Kamau has picked Maoni Njeri Kagone as his running mate.

Kamau said he chose Njeri after a thorough scrutiny of the possible candidates who were in the lineup.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Kamau said he was looking for an individual with whom they can work together to deliver quality services to the people of Murang’a.

Role of women

He said his pick on Njeri was to strike a balance in leadership, adding that he recognizes the role women play in leadership.

“Njeri has a deep passion for women and youth empowerment and she has been doing several projects at the grassroots, transforming the lives of the residents.

“I am sure the people of Murang’a are going to be happy with the work we will do for them when we get into office come August,” Kamau said.

Kamau exuded confidence in trouncing his opponents saying he will get over 75 per cent of the votes in the county.

Njeri, giving her acceptance remarks, said she will strive to complement Kamau’s work as the county boss to help him deliver his agenda to the people.

“I feel honored to have been nominated as the running mate for the gubernatorial race and I appreciate that Kamau believes in women leadership,” she said.

She added: “I know this shall require a lot of commitment and sacrifices but we shall work together to revive our county.”

Njeri’s background

Njeri, who hails from Kangema, is the Chief Executive Officer of Poise Business Development Consulting Ltd and a director at the Kenya National Chambers of Commerce.

She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a Degree in International Business Studies, and a Masters’s degree in entrepreneurship.

Kamau becomes the second gubernatorial aspirant to unveil his running mate after Irungu Nyakera who picked Catherine Mugo as deputy.

Four other aspirants, Irungu Kang’ata, Wairagu Wa Maai, Joshua Toro and Michael Gato are yet to unveil their running mates.
