Bodies of 5 helicopter crash victims arrive in Emurua Dikirr for joint prayer service
By Kiprono Keileb, March 5, 2026The bodies of five people who tragically died in a helicopter crash in Chepkiyep, Nandi County, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, were airlifted to Emurua Dikirr on Wednesday, March 5, 2026, ahead of a joint prayer service.
The service is intended to honour their memory and provide a space for collective mourning.
Johana Ngeno, the late Emurua Dikirr MP, will have his body taken to his Mogondo home for a night vigil. The vigil will allow family, friends, and constituents to pay their respects before the burial ceremony tomorrow.

The joint prayer service will include all five victims and will be held at a central location in the constituency, where leaders and community members will deliver tributes and prayers.
Deadly helicopter crash
The crash, which happened on Saturday, February 28, in Chepkiyep, claimed the lives of six people, sending shockwaves across the country and leaving families grieving. Leaders, relatives and friends gathered at AGC Karen to pray and remember the departed.
Murkomen began by explaining that he joined other national leaders and grieving families at the church service to stand in solidarity with those affected by the tragedy.
Ng’eno’s journey to leadership
Ng’eno was born on December 12, 1972 in Narok County. He grew up in a poor family and moved to Molo during the 1994 famine. As a boy, he walked long distances with donkeys to sell charcoal and maize.
He studied at Mogondo Primary School and Maseno National School. He later earned a degree in International Law from Kyiv TSN University in Ukraine, an LLB from Mount Kenya University and a Master’s in International Studies from the University of Nairobi. In September 2025, he joined the bar as an Advocate of the High Court.

Before politics, he served as a director at the Agricultural Development Corporation from 2008 to 2012. Voters elected him MP for Emurua Dikirr in 2013 and returned him in 2017 and 2022. He served on the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, the Public Investments Committee, and the NG-CDF Committee.
At the time of his death, he chaired the Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works Committee.
