The embattled managing director of Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) Peter Biwott has been dealt a major blow after the company’s board of directors turned down his request for his contract to be renewed for another three years in office.

This was confirmed yesterday by the ELDOWAS company board chairman David Sing’oei who said Biwott’s (pictured)  contract will not be extended based on the review of his performance in the last three years he has served in the position.

Singoei was speaking to the media at the Eldoret based water company after chairing a closed door four hour meeting that came out with the resolution not to extend his tenure at the financially troubled company.

Poor performance

“During our board meeting, we reviewed the MD’s on key areas of human resources, finance and technical skill and came out with a resolution not to renew his contract for another three years due to poor performance,” stated Sing’oei.

Sing’oei was forced to announce the outcome of the board meeting decision on the fate of the besieged MD in the afternoon after the more than 900 workers stormed the company office demanding his immediate resignation.
