Bidco seek to bounce back from weekend defeat and fry Talanta
After giving Gor Mahia the luxury of a back-to-back feat in a 1-0 loss at Nyayo National Stadium at the weekend, Bidco United have declared that there is no room for another error when they face FC Talanta at Kasarani Annex today.
This is the only Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League midweek fixture today with tomorrow the busiest as there are eight on the programme.
The Thika side will be going flat out to put behind them the disappointment of the double loss to the multiple league champions.
Gor beat Bidco United 2-1 in the first leg tie in Thika on November 26, 2022 before adding the icing on the cake on Nairobi at the weekend and these are statistics which have raised concern among the team’s coach Anthony Akhulia.
The Thika side will be going flat out to put behind them the disappointment of the double loss to Kogalo with Akhulia remaining confident.
“We played well in the reverse fixture and were just unlucky. There was an element of ill luck in front of goal and the priority is to ensure that we revert to our usual selves. To me, there is still room to bounce back to reckoning and I must say we shall be in the game against Talanta for business right from the onset,” said Akkhulia.
Placed 12th in the chart, Bidco last savored success February 19 when they whacked Sofapaka 2-0 and will be mainly relying on players who have been almost spot on in much of their previous success among them Peter Nzuki, Samuel Ndung’u, Henry Juma and Ezekiel Okare.
However, Bidco are bound to have their work cut out as they will be up against an FC Talanta side that gave defending champions Tusker a huge scare last weekend in a 1-1 draw in Ruaraka.
Add onto the fact that the 15th placed Talanta are battling relegation and you will certainly notice the weight hanging on Bidco’s shoulders.
Meanwhile, Nzoia Sugar are expected to lean heavily on their 12th man that is their home fans when they engage Kenya Police at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma in one of tomorrow’s highlights.
Nzoia coach Salim Babu is adamant that his side shall rise again after falling 1-0 to Bandari in the sweltering heat of Mombasa last weekend.
“We are unfazed by the defeat and we promise to do our best to appease our ever-supportive fans moving forward. For sure, the match in Mombasa was difficult but we gave our all and if we can manage to repeat the same, then I’m sure we can get something from the match in Bungoma,” said Babu.
