Barasa opens new office as ODM tightens grip on county

By , October 16, 2024

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has embarked on a campaign to further popularise ODM in the county.

Barasa has been opening new sub-county offices every week in an effort to restore the Orange party’s fortunes in the County following an onslaught by other political outfits mainly UDA and DAP-Kenya.

He said yesterday that he was relaunching the party’s activities in all corners of the County so as to maintain its hold in the twelve constituencies.

He, has so far opened new offices in Matungu, Mumias East, Malava, Navakholo and Lugari constituencies.

“ODM has been our most-favourite political party since it was formed about 20 years ago and we are not taking any chances,” Barasa said. “This is why I have embarked on this journey to ensure we not only maintain our support-base but grow even stronger.”

Speaking during the official opening of the party office for Lugari Constituency at Panpaper market, the county chief lauded ODM’s resilience since it was founded.

“ODM has not only withstood the test of time, but also remained pivotal in shaping the country’s political landscape,” he added.
Barasa cited the party’s role in the 2005 Constitutional Referendum, which, he said, marked a significant moment in Kenya’s journey towards reforms.

“ODM will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025, with a key milestone being the implementation and achievements of devolution, which has brought government services closer to the people,” he said.
