Badilisha effects changes in county health  sector

Nyandarua governor Moses Kiarie Badilisha (pictured) has transferred two chief officers in the health department in a bid to mollify disaffection in the County’s health sector.

Josephine Muiru was moved from the Public Health docket to Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development in the same capacity while Chief Officer for Medical Services Charles Nderitu was transferred to the Finance, Economic Planning and Information Communication Technology where he will be in charge of ICT.

They have swapped positions with Peris Mwangi who takes over the Public Health docket and Julius Ng’ambi who moves from Finance to Health department as chief officer for Medical Services.

Quorum hitch

Presiding over the transition, Health CEC Zakayo Kariuki and his Lands counterpart Kinyanjui Mburu said the changes were meant to serve ‘wanjiku’ better.

“The Governor wants better service to Wanjiku,” said Mburu who is a former Kinangop Mp.

The transfer of Muiru and Nderitu comes a few days after a motion to impeach the Health CEC Zakayo Kariuki failed to proceed due to a quorum hitch.

Disagreement between Muiru and Nderitu on who should transfer workers in the Health department is said to have fomented the impeachment motion tabled a week ago by nominated MCA Stephen Mureithi against Kariuki.

The notice of motion given by Mureithi cited incompetence, abuse of office, gross misconduct and gross violation of the constitution as grounds for the intended impeachment.
