Babu Owino tells Ruto to uphold the Constitution
By Cy Muganda, August 16, 2025Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has challenged President William Ruto to respect and uphold the Constitution, stressing that national leadership must remain anchored in the rule of law.
Speaking during the Law Society of Kenya’s annual conference on Friday, August 15, 2025, Babu used the legal forum to direct a message to Ruto, demanding adherence to constitutional principles.
“To the President of the Republic of Kenya, you must respect the Constitution,” Babu stated during his address.
Message to opposition leaders
The MP also delivered encouraging messages to opposition leaders, urging them to intensify their political activities.
“And to Excellency Kalonzo Musyoka, go ahead and conquer the nation,” he said.

He further called on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to continue his vocal criticism of the government, using colourful metaphors to describe the senator’s confrontational approach.
“To my super-senator, Edwin Sifuna, continue injecting with the sealant and the needle of a camel,” Babu stated, praising Sifuna’s persistent opposition stance.
Calling to serve justice
In his speech, Babu described the legal profession as a noble calling that extends beyond mere career advancement.
“And we understand that this noble profession is not… The noble profession is more than just a career; it is a calling. It is a calling to serve justice. It is a calling to defend the Constitution. And it is a calling to be the voice of the voiceless,” he stated.
He urged new advocates to approach their profession with the right attitude and values.
“As new advocates, we will carry ourselves with humility, curiosity, and courage,” Babu advised.
“And to our mentors and seniors, we want to thank you very much for paving the way. And we want to tell you that we will continue learning and growing under your guidance. Because we are here today because you have led by example,” he said.
