Babu Owino and Wamuchomba back Sifuna’s tough talk against govt
By Mabonga Makhanu, August 24, 2025A section of lawmakers aligned with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna have encouraged him to keep up with his tough talk against the government despite threats from some quarters calling for his ouster as ODM secretary general.
While attending a church service in Donholm on Sunday, August 24, 2025, the Kenya Moja team, which comprises Edwin Sifuna, Kitutu Chache MP Antony Kibagendi, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga, Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, urged the senator not to relent in holding the government to account.
Babu Owino, who hosted the team in his constituency, praised Sifuna’s efforts in keeping the government on its toes. He noted that in the past, Sifuna used to inject the government with the equivalent of a goat’s syringe but has now shifted to using one fit for a camel, symbolising that his pressure on the administration has significantly intensified and that he should continue doing so.

“Tuko na super senator, Edwin Sifuna. Huyu ni chief injector; kitambo alikua anatumia sindano ya mbuzi, siku hizi anatumia sindano ya ngamia,” Babu Owino said.
He went ahead to encourage him to continue with his criticism of the government, urging him to be fearless.
Wamuchomba’s advice
On her part, Gathoni Wamuchomba told the senator that he should go even further. She urged him to stop using the camel syringe and instead adopt one equivalent to what could inject an elephant, symbolically suggesting that Sifuna must amplify his push to drive the government out of power.
“Super Senator Sifuna Umeambiawa ununue syringe ya ngamia; tunataka unnunue ile ya Ndovu uinject mpaka tusukume watu kwa zile maofisi wanatumia kutunyanyasa,” Wamuchomba stated.
This comes at a time when Sifuna has maintained a tough stance against the current regime, even defying his own party’s decision to enter into an agreement with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
