Azimio La Umoja opens regional coordination office in Kisumu

The Azimio la Umoja movement  opened a regional  office in Kisumu County to oversee and coordinate its activities in Western Kenya ahead of the August 9 General Elections.

 The office which is stationed in Milimani Estate will house the Azimio coalition top leadership offices.

 According to ODM national treasurer Timothy Bosire, Azimio party leader Raila has an office in the premise.

 “This office will oversee Azimio activities in both Western and Nyanza counties,” he said.

 “This office will make our work easier. We want where Western and Nyanza counties leadership will meet and discuss party affairs and/or meet the party leader to discuss party matters while in the region,” explained Bosire.

 The Azimio regional offices is premises in a building belonging to exiled Asian businessman Ketan Somaia.

Although, the regional Azimio headquarters is yet to have a fully operational staff and coordination teams, Bosire said they were working out on means and ways to equip the office with the requisite staff and resources imperative to coordinate it’s functions effectively.

 Separately,  1,500 delegates drawn from the seven sub-counties in Kisumu County endorsed Prof Anyang Nyongo’s re-election saying he should be given a direct ticket.

 The delegates said they backed Nyong’o based on the projects, he initiated in his first term in office saying he deserved a second term to complete them.

 Speaker of the Kisumu County assembly Elisha Oraro led in the declaration when he presided over a motion tabled by Majority Leader Kisumu County assembly Kenneth Onyango, who sought the delegates approval of the proposal to field Nyong’o as the ODM flag bearer in the August 9 General Elections.

 The motion was seconded by Kisumu Deputy Speaker Joachim Oketch, Beatrice Odongo and Aslam Khan and South Nyakach MCA Gard Olima.  Nyong’o said he was humbled by the gesture and vowed to rally support for Azimio leader Odinga.
