Hello! Here’s what you need to know in order to get up to speed with today’s happenings.

1. Youth Bunge Dialogue

Kenya Young Members of Parliament will today host an event dubbed ‘Youth Bunge Dialogue’.

The event will bring together more than 50 youth leaders and members of Parliament to deliberate on the power of dialogue in line with this year’s theme of International Youth Day Promoting Dialogue for Responsive Youth Advocacy and Inclusion.

2. Bomb blast memorial

Today marks 25 years since the ugly face of terror hit Kenya on August 7, 1998.

The bomb blast attack on the US Embassy in Nairobi, which was located at the Co-operative House, Haile Selassie Avenue, caused devastation and great loss.

The August 7th Memorial Trust will today commemorate the 25th anniversary of the incident at an event that will be held at the August 7th Memorial Park located within the Co-operative House premise.

3. Free open-heart surgery

Nairobi Hospital will today perform free open-heart surgery on a needy child.

The Nairobi Hospital’s charity arm supports free heart operations for needy children with heart problems through the Children’s Charity Heart Fund.

4. Senate health committee

The Senate Committee on Health is scheduled to hold a stakeholder engagement meeting with Community Health Worker representative groups and the consortium of development partners/NGOs/civil society in community health services.

The purpose of the meeting is to receive oral submissions on the Community Health Services Bill, 2023.

The venue of the meeting will be the Senate Chamber, Main Parliament Buildings.

5. First Lady

Narok governor Patrick Ole Ntutu will today host First Lady Rachel Ruto as she begins a two-day visit to the county for the City Transformation Program under the Mama Doing Good Initiative.

6. Ruto’s itinerary

President William Ruto continues with his visit to Mt Kenya region.

The President’s programme in Nyeri County today include;

9 am: Launch of Ichamara-Rutune Road at Kìrara Primary School, Mùkùrwe-inì Constituency.

11 am: Commissioning of Kaigonji Water Project, Tetu Constituency.

1 pm: Commissioning of Othaya Water Project, Othaya Constituency.

3 pm: Commissioning of Nyeri State and Bus Park, Nyeri Town Constituency.
