By , April 13, 2020

One suspect has been arrested and others fled after a mission to ambush and kidnap People Daily correspondent in Nyamira County Evans Nyakundi from his home aborted.

The suspected intruders had stormed Nyakundi’s home compound at Tente, near Governor John Nyagarama’s residence at around 7pm Monday while armed with crude weapons.

The gang of about 10 people scampered for their safety after neighbours responded to the distress calls from the journalist’s family.

One of the members of the gang was rounded, nabbed and beaten up by the angry neighbours before he was handed over to the police who also had made effort to reach the home.

According to Nyakundi, this is the second time the thugs are raiding his home over a news story touching on some political figures in the county allegedly done by him.
