Attackers believed to be Al Shabaab militants on Sunday, December 22 destroyed construction machinery worth Sh39.8 million at Hagarsu Bida, Mandera County.

According to police sources, the unknown number of terrorists stormed a road construction camp around 3.00 am and used Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) to blow up the equipment.

Among the equipment blasted were an excavator valued at Sh20 million, a flat roller machine valued at Sh9.5 million, shift foot rollers valued at Sh9.5 million and a pressure pump valued at Sh800,000.

Two guards assigned to the camp are said to have scampered for safety when the attackers hit.
