Archbishop Anyolo calls for peaceful accord
A day after President William Ruto called out Kenyans for opposing government projects and church offerings by politicians, the Catholic Church has called for harmony in the country.
Nairobi Archbishop Phillip Anyolo said that all Kenyans must be constructive in their words, thoughts and minds for the sake of peace and unity in the country.
Speaking while officially opening a maternity and Theatre wing at Cardinal Otunga Health Centre in Mang’u area, Gatundu North, Kiambu county, the archbishop said that despite the hardships being faced in the country and across the globe, everyone has an obligation to work towards maintaining and upholding peace and tranquillity.
Anyolo pointed out that the country’s economy is still in dire need of revival adding that this will be achieved when there’s goodwill between all players including the political class and Kenyans.
“The economy, even worldwide, is undergoing tough times. We still have a chance to revive it with goodwill with the leaders and all Kenyans. Kenya is known for her resilience. The people, other organizations and even the government have a duty to play in constructing roads, and health facilities so as to revive the economy,” he said.
The archbishop said the Church is doing what it can do, including the construction of such crucial facilities like healthcare centres, to improve the living standards of Kenyans.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Anyolo said that the two facilities at Cardinal Otunga Health Center which operates under the Archdiocese of Nairobi, will boost healthcare provision in the region and also improve maternal health.
