Arati orders staff who snubbed headcount to show cause why

By , September 29, 2023

Kisii Governor Simba Arati has dismissed claims that his government has sacked workers who failed to turn up at the headquarters and sub-counties for a head count, terming it propaganda.

He, however, asked the 740 county workers who never turned up for the head count conducted by the county and the Institute of Human Resource Management ( IHRM) in September last year to liaise with their supervisors, Chief Officers and the County Secretary, James Ntabo and explain why they skipped the exercise.

In a statement to the press yesterday, Arati said nobody has been sacked, stressing, they were given 21 days to show cause why they skipped the headcount, failing which their salaries will be stopped.

The governor noted he was being fought because of his anti-corruption stand in the county, adding that he will not relent until he streamlines operations in the county to foster development.

He said revenue at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital increased from Sh47million to Sh170million in four months after he shuffled staff, adding that the county has automated health services to curb corruption.
