Kisii Governor Simba Arati has frozen employment and promotions. The Governor, who made impromptu visits to various offices a day after he was sworn in, said there is no need to continue employing more people and promoting them without a budget.

During his inauguration, he voiced concern over the high wage bill.

“I was shocked when I discovered that the county has a 75-year-old officer who earns Sh 0.2 million and yet he is not giving us special services,” Arati (pictured) told employees at Treasury offices.

He appealed to the workers to help him implement his manifesto to benefit residents and pledged to improve their working conditions.
