Anti-terrorism police unit assures Kenyans of safety during festive season

Various security agencies have come out to assure Kenyans of safety and vowed to enforce security during the festive season.

In a statement shared on Monday, December 23, 2024, the Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) disclosed that the Special Operations Group (SOG), Kenya’s elite Counter-Terrorism tactical unit, is expected to work keenly with other security agencies to promote safety and security. 

Highlighting the strides made by the security agencies to safeguarding the country, the Counter Terrorism Policing emphasized SOG’s commitment to conducting intelligence-led counter terrorism operations to neutralize terror threats that would jeopardize national safety. 

“The Special Operations Group (SOG), Kenya’s elite Counter-Terrorism tactical unit, will work closely with other security agencies to ensure security and safety during this festive season.

“Renowned for their expertise in high-stakes environments like Lamu and the North Eastern Region, the SOG remains steadfast in conducting intelligence-led Counter Terrorism operations to neutralize terror threats and safeguard our nation.”

The Counter Terrorism Policing further called on Kenyans to also play their part in ensuring national safety by working close with security agencies. 

They also encouraged citizens to urgently report any suspicious activities to relevant authorities to curb insecurity. 

“Let us all play our part by working closely with security agencies and promptly reporting any suspicious activities. Together, we can enhance security and ensure a peaceful festive season for all.  Stay safe, and enjoy the Festive Season,” they added.
