Amisi slams Farouk Kibet for asking women leaders to dance in events

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has strongly criticised President Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, over the growing trend of asking women leaders to dance when being introduced on stage.

Speaking in his constituency on Sunday, August 3, 2025, Amisi expressed displeasure at the practice, terming it demeaning to female leaders who are expected to focus on women’s empowerment.

Lakini unapata female leaders; instead of empowering fellow women, they are busy empowering Farouk Kibet. What nonsense is that? Hayo ni Mambo gani? Ati sasa mtu ambaye wameempower no Farouk Kibet, anatembea akiwambia wazunguke. Hao ni mabibi wa watu bana, tunaambia Farouk Kibet Waachana na bibi za watu,” Amisi stated.

The MP emphasised that the essence of affirmative action and the two-thirds gender rule was to uplift women so they could empower others, not to entertain individuals during public forums. He called on Kibet to stop the practice, noting that the women leaders involved are respected public figures and family women.

“Wale wamama viongozi amabao tulifikiria watakuja kushughulikia mambo ya empowerment ya Wamama – The reason for having affirmative action and the two-thirds gender rule was to empower women so that they can empower fellow women,” he added.

Amisi further commended Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, who was present at the event, for refusing to participate in such acts. He described Wamuchomba as a principled leader who has consistently stood her ground, even when it meant opposing the government on matters she deemed inappropriate.

Lakini huyu Wamuchomba amekataa; she is the only lady amesimama Central na serikali ikienda mbaya anasema ni mbaya; we respect you, Wamuchomba; do not get tired,” he concluded.

The Saboti MP urged women leaders to focus on their mandate of championing the needs of women rather than engaging in activities that undermine their dignity.

Farouk Kibet

This comes days after Farouk Kibet, President William Ruto’s aide, introduced nominated MP Sabina Chege on stage at an event in Lamu in July 2025, making controversial remarks about her physical appearance.

His comments, which focused on her looks in a manner deemed inappropriate, drew widespread criticism for being disrespectful.

The remarks ignited public outrage, with many arguing that such language undermines women leaders.
