Businesswoman Agnes Kagure promises to take Kanjos back to school as she launches bid for Nairobi gubernatorial seat
Businesswoman Agnes Kagure has declared her candidacy for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
The entrepreneur who is eying nomination ticket from Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja movement joins Senator Johnson Sakaja, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi and President for Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Richard Ngatia in the battle for the seat.
Kagure launched her bid for the Nairobi County’s top seat on Friday, January 7 at Kasarani Stadium Gymnasium where she promised to clear traffic jams in the city and send county askaris for training if elected governor.
“We are going to retrain Kanjos ( the city askaris). We are also going to review their contracts in order to have many job opportunities,” she said.
The businesswoman further said that she is well poised to serve the people of Nairobi since she has experienced the best of both worlds from being a house-help to a seasoned insurance seller.
“Having lived in Mathare and Dandora, I can identify with slum dwellers who at times have to go bed hungry, have to contend with forcible evictions or mysterious fires in the slum,” Kagure said.
