AFC Leopards’ duo undergo surgery
By Joel Sang, November 21, 2023
AFC Leopards have confirmed two of their players have undergone surgery and are therefore going to miss more Football Kenya Federation Premier League matches.
The two who have undergone surgery are Lewis Bandi and Abubakar Musha, but AFC Leopards did not give a probable timeline for when they are likely to be back in action.
Injury updates
“Lewis Bandi and Abubakar Musha have both undergone successful surgery to repair their torn meniscus, an injury that has kept them out of action for a while,” AFC Leopards announced on their social media pages.
With the two sidelined, it means head coach Tomas Trucha has to deal with a rather thin squad before they fully recuperate.
Meanwhile, Ingwe engaged in a number of friendly matches during the FIFA international break before they resume their top-flight campaign late in November. In a recent friendly, they suffered a 2-1 loss against their Football Kenya Federation Premier League rivals, KCB.
The former Premier League champions are still trying to get their footing in the season after a poor start and are currently 15th on the table with just nine points.
Before restarting their top-flight campaign on November 25, AFC Leopards also faced Kariobangi Sharks and beat them 4-1 before another friendly win against Cigna FC, whom they dispatched by a margin of 12-0.
Ingwe’s upcoming games
After the November break, Ingwe will face tougher assignments given that all but one of their six next opponents are above them on the log.
Their first match will be against Sofapaka, who are also struggling in the campaign, before a duel against Tusker. Bidco United, Kakamega Homeboyz, Murang’a Seal, who recently held Gor Mahia to a goalless draw, and Ulinzi Stars will follow in that order in games that will run from November to January 2024.
