93 applicants miss out on SHA shortlist as it moves to address communication gaps

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has released the shortlist for the position of Assistant Director, Corporate Communication, with successful applicants expected to attend interviews scheduled for June 3, 2026, at the authority’s headquarters in Nairobi.

Out of the 100 candidates who sent their applications, SHA only shortlisted 7. The latest hiring is aimed at addressing corporate communication issues within SHA even as it grapples with numerous complaints and political pressure.

In a statement shared on its X account on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, SHA congratulated all shortlisted candidates and directed them to report to the interview venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.

The authority further instructed applicants to carry original copies of several key documents during the interviews, including national identity cards, academic and professional certificates, transcripts and other supporting testimonials.

Shortlisted candidates have also been required to present valid clearance certificates from institutions including the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), a registered Credit Reference Bureau, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

For candidates holding foreign degrees, SHA stated that letters of recognition from the Commission for University Education (CUE) will also be mandatory during the verification process.

The authority additionally requested recommendation letters or certificates of good standing from relevant professional bodies and associations where applicable.

Public invited to submit information

SHA has also invited members of the public to submit any adverse information concerning shortlisted applicants before the recruitment process is concluded.

According to the notice, such information should be submitted to the Chairman of the Social Health Authority at the SHA Building in Nairobi or through the official recruitment email address on or before June 2, 2026, by 5:00 pm.

The recruitment comes at a time when public institutions continue to strengthen transparency and accountability in hiring processes through public participation and document verification requirements.

The Assistant Director for Corporate Communication position is expected to play a key role in overseeing strategic communication, stakeholder engagement and public information management within the authority as SHA continues implementing health sector reforms across the country.
