Peter Mbae: Kang’ata wanted Ol Kalou Linda Mwananchi rally to launch his Mt Kenya kingpin bid
Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Economic Adviser Peter Mbae has launched a scathing attack on Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata following the governor’s unsuccessful attempt to hold a Linda Mwananchi rally in Ol Kalou Constituency.
In a statement shared on his social media pages on Saturday, July 11, 2026, the outspoken politician, who is also eyeing the Nakuru Senate seat, claimed Kang’ata wanted to use the rally as a launchpad for what he described as Mt Kenya kingpin ambitions.

Mbae further stated that Kang’ata had not informed Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua or Nyandarua Senator John Methu, who has been spearheading the party’s campaigns in the Ol Kalou by-election.
“It was not right to want to use Ol Kalou as a launchpad for your Mt Kenya kingship. After all the work we have done there, you were coming there without informing H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH, or Kaba Methu, and no one was sure whether you were coming to campaign for yourself,” Mbae wrote.
Kang’ata’s reelection
He went on to take issue with Kangata’s association with the Linda Mwananchi, saying that the Sifuna-led outfit would eventually evolve into a political party with a strong support base in Western Kenya, with Nairobi Senator Edwin as its presidential candidate. According to him, this will leave him in the political cold since the proposed party will have no ties with Mt Kenya.

Mbae also challenged Kang’ata to defend his Murang’a gubernatorial seat on a different political party other than DCP if he believed he enjoyed sufficient popularity.
“For clarity and avoidance of doubt, if Kang’ata wants to defend his seat on another party, he is free to do so so that we get a chance to field a DCP candidate in Murang’a. That’s how people who think they are popular get finished. History repeating itself,” he stated.
Caleb Amisi’s remarks
“Bwana Irungu Kangata, as you join Linda Mwananchi, we welcome you. The more the merrier,” Amisi wrote.
“But please note that the founders are still alive and kicking. We shall not allow you and your cabal to misuse our son Edwin Sifuna. We are not children of a lesser God. Keep your Muranga County money. Kenyans shall fund our campaign.”
