9-year-old boy drowns in Alego, Usonga

A 9 year old boy lost his life after drowning in a pool of water beside a road in Bar Osimbo Sub location,Alego Usonga Constituency.

The tragic accident which happened in the evening of Wednesday, 14 April was confirmed by area chief Roseline  Akoth who said the deceased was playing in the company of fellow children when he met his untimely death.

Akoth revealed that Shadrack Owino (deceased) and Tyrone Waringa were going home after attending catechism classes in Randago Catholic Church when they began playing in a  pool of water along the road home.

The local administrator stated that the two boys sunk in a pool of water that had collected in a trench that was left open by a contractor after the mining of murram.

While Shadrack unluckily drowned, Tyrone was rescued by passers-by and is recuperating at Pema Hospital.

The administrator who spoke to K24 digital and People daily took the opportunity to urge parents to be vigilant especially now that schools are closed and children have a lot of free time on their hands.

The body of Shadrack Owino was moved to Siaya County Referral Hospital Mortuary.
