3 arrested in connection with violent robbery in Homa Bay
Police have arrested three persons of interest over violence with robbery in Mawego in Homa Bay County.
The incident occurred on early Sunday, 27 July 2025, in Mawego, leaving one with injuries.
“Earlier today, a resident of Mawego reported that at approximately 04:50 hours, while heading home, he was accosted by a group of thugs riding on motorcycles and armed with crude weapons. The victim sustained a head injury during the attack,” read the police statement on X’s official account.
According to the police, officers from Kendu Bay Police Station responded swiftly to the distress call and managed to arrest three individuals at the scene.
“Police officers from Kendu Bay Police Station responded swiftly to the distress call and managed to arrest three of the suspects, who were positively identified by the complainant at the scene,” read part of the official communication.
Police recovered two motorcycles alongside a blood-stained club, which has been secured as an exhibit.
“Remains committed to its mission of providing effective, people-centric, and accountable policing services for a safe and prosperous society,” the police report said.
The trio remain in custody in Kendu Bay pending further police action and arraignment.

Manhunt
Meanwhile, security agencies are hunting down an individual who escaped from Kibera Law Courts in Nairobi on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
The person of interest, identified as Alex Kibisu, 29, was in remand pending hearing and determination of his case.
He had been brought from Kamiti remand to the court for a defence hearing of his case of 2023 when he slipped off and jumped over a perimeter wall, escaping with handcuffs on.
He is said to have jumped the perimeter wall at the court and vanished into the sprawling slum amid a hunt for him.
“He jumped over the court’s perimeter wall and disappeared into the slum,” police confirmed.
Police said he had been staying in Satelite in Nairobi, but comes from Kakamega, and that all concerned parties had been alerted to help in tracing him.
Nairobi police boss George Seda urged the public or those who know him to alert police if and when seen.
“If anyone has seen Alex Kibisu or has information, please report to the nearest police station or call 999,” Seda appealed.
