The Kenya Kwanza government will confirm 26,000 intern teachers on permanent and pension terms in the 2024/25 Financial Year, National Assembly Budget and Appropriation Committee Chairman Ndindi Nyoro has said.

Speaking in Uasin Gishu County on Sunday Nyoro revealed that the government through the Teachers Service Commission is set to hire an additional 20,000 intern tutors in the next financial year.

Nyoro who is also the MP for Kiharu constituency was speaking during a funds drive in aid of AIC Annex church in Kesses Sub County where he was hosted by area MP Julius Ruto.

He asserted that the National Assembly has already set a budget of Sh26.3 billion in this year’s financial year that will factor in the hiring of new interns and confirmation of the current intern teachers on permanent and pensionable employment.

Nyoro said the government was determined to address the shortage of teachers in all public primary and secondary schools in the country with a view to ensure 100 per cent transition of learners.

“The Kenya Kwanza government will confirm all the 26,000 intern teachers as promised by President William Ruto and also hire an additional 20,000 intern tutors in the next financial year,” assured Nyoro.

He stated that the current regime will not discriminate against any region when it comes to distribution of jobs and development projects based on how they voted in the last general election.

Development projects

“I can assure you that the government under the leadership of President Ruto will ensure development projects are spread across the country regardless of how the people cast their votes in the last polls,” said Nyoro.

The event was attended by ruling party elected and nominated MPs among them Oscah Sudi (Kapseret)  Johana Ng’eno (Emurua Dikir)  Josses Lelmengit (Emgwen ) Joseph Wainana (Nominated) and  David Kiplagat (Soy ).

Causing disunity

Others were Uasin Gishu senator Jackson Mandago, his TransNzoia counter Allan Kisang, host governor Jonathan Bii and Principal Secretary for Immigration Julius Bitok.

The Kenya Kwanza law makers defended the government against its critics to the effect that it was rocked with rift among its leaders from Mt Kenya region terming the claims as propaganda aimed at causing disunity in the party.

Led by nominated MP Joseph Wainaina, they said that all Mt Kenya leaders were united under the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua contrary to claims that he was losing his grip on the populous region.

“There is no rift in our party and in particular the Mt Kenya region as being propagated by our political enemies who are determined to cause disharmony in the Kenya Kwanza government due to the superb job it is  doing for Kenyans,” said Wainaina.
