2 persons of interest nabbed with 15kgs of bhang in Kakamega
By Joel Masibo, November 12, 2025The National Police Service has confirmed the nabbing of two persons of interest said to be involved in drug trafficking in Matungu, Kakamega County.
According to the NPS statement released on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the two were nabbed following a tip-off from the public, where officers from Matungu Police Station intercepted a public service vehicle at Matungu Trading Centre.

”Two male suspects were found to be in possession of approximately 15 kilograms of cannabis. They were arrested and taken into custody. The drugs were seized as evidence, and the suspects are scheduled to appear in court today,” the National Police Service said.

On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, police officers based at Sokohuru Police Post confirmed the arrest of two male persons of interest who were found trafficking cannabis sativa along the Kisumu-Kericho highway.
According to the NPS statement, the arrest followed a tip-off from the public, which prompted a rapid response and the interception of a suspicious motorcycle believed to be transporting the narcotics for distribution.

”During the operation, a suitcase containing 26 bales of cannabis, weighing approximately 50 kilograms with an estimated street value of Ksh1.5 million, was recovered. The two suspects were arrested at the scene and are in police custody, awaiting processing and arraignment in court. The exhibit has been secured as evidence,” the statement said in part.
Elsewhere on Monday, November 10, 2025, police acting on intelligence in Matuga, Kwale County, apprehended two individuals believed to be drug peddlers in the Vuga area.
During the operation, the officers recovered 20 rolls of a substance believed to be cannabis sativa. The NPS confirmed that the duo were escorted to the police station, awaiting processing and arraignment in court.
Meanwhile, the National Police Service has said it remains steadfast in combating narcotics and continues to employ intelligence-led enforcement operations targeting supply chains, transport corridors, and concealed distribution cells.
The Service encourages continued public cooperation in reporting suspicious drug-related activities.
