By Mustafa Juma, May 11, 2026Two persons of interest linked to a series of burglaries and house break-ins in Murang’a County have been arrested following a police operation conducted by officers from Ithanga Police Station.
The National Police Service (NPS), in a statement shared via X on Monday, May 11, 2026, said the operation was carried out on Sunday after officers received credible information from members of the public regarding the said persons of interest’s involvement in criminal activities affecting residents in different parts of the county.
Homes raided in intelligence-led operation
Police said officers moved swiftly and raided the homes of the two individuals believed to be connected to multiple burglary incidents recently reported in the area.
“Yesterday, police officers from Ithanga Police Station conducted a successful operation targeting suspects linked to a series of burglary and house break-in incidents across Murang’a County,” the NPS stated.
“Acting on credible information received from members of the public, the officers moved swiftly and raided the homes of two suspects believed to have been involved in criminal activities that have recently affected residents within the county.”
During the operation, several items suspected of having been stolen were recovered.
The recovered property included mobile phones, assorted electronic devices, and other household goods that had earlier been reported stolen at Ithanga Police Station.
Victims identify stolen items
According to police, complainants positively identified the recovered items as their stolen property.
However, authorities indicated that the items will remain in police custody for now as exhibits to support ongoing investigations and future court proceedings.
The two individuals are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are completed.
“The complainants positively identified the recovered items as their property. However, the items have since been retained by the police as exhibits to aid in ongoing investigations and court proceedings, as the two suspects are expected to be arraigned,” the statement reads.
The National Police Service commended members of the public for providing information that aided the operation, saying community cooperation remains critical in combating crime.
“The Service will continue to work closely with members of the public in combating crime and enhancing security in the region,” police said in the statement.
Authorities also urged residents to continue sharing information on criminal activities through police emergency lines and anonymous reporting platforms.

Embu raid
The incident comes barely a week after police in Embu County arrested one person of interest and recovered a cache of suspected stolen items following an intelligence-led operation targeting a robbery network.
The NPS, in a statement shared via X on Sunday, May 3, 2026, said the breakthrough came after officers conducted a coordinated raid within Embu Town, acting on credible leads linking a local shop to a series of robbery-with-violence incidents reported by residents and business owners.
According to police, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle a criminal ring believed to be behind multiple theft cases in the area.
